Sustainability Consultation Workshop

Have your say: Sustainability in Connected & Automated Transport

The Summit
Consultation Workshops

What role can connected and automated technologies play in Australia’s transition to a cleaner, greener transport system?

Join us for a national stakeholder workshop focused on the sustainability opportunities of connected and automated transport. With electrification already underway across many fleets, this session will explore how its convergence with other innovations can support emissions reduction, energy efficiency and a shift to more sustainable mobility options.

What’s on the agenda?

The workshop will explore:

  • How automation and connectivity can support low-emission transport across road, rail, aviation, ports and freight
  • Opportunities to reduce energy use and optimise traffic flow
  • The critical role of automation in decarbonising ‘hard-to-electrify’ sectors
  • The risks of unintended environmental impacts—including mode shift, increased travel demand and system inefficiencies
  • Aligning deployment strategies and sustainability goals across government, industry and communities

Your input will directly influence where we go next

We want to understand what the issues relating to connected and automated transport mean for you, your organisation, your sector and your community. The insights and ideas shared through this process will inform development of the draft recommendations that will be tested, debated and agreed upon at the Summit in September 2025.

This workshop is part of a national series supporting the public consultation process that will inform the National Future Transport Summit in September 2025. Each session explores a key theme of the Summit to build a shared understanding of the key issues and support the development of submissions.
