This session, hosted by the Centre for Connected and Automated Transport (CCAT), explores how we can maximise the benefits of advanced transport technologies by clearly identifying and addressing the risks.
Connected and automated transport has the potential to significantly improve safety and mobility in Australia. However, they may also introduce new challenges, from safety and system complexity to equity, environmental outcomes and public trust.
This session brings together a range of perspectives to explore both the opportunities and trade-offs across key areas such as safety, accessibility, health, network optimisation and environmental sustainability. It will focus on how governments, industry and researchers can work together to anticipate risks early and shape deployment pathways that deliver the greatest overall benefit.
By confronting risks—not avoiding them—the session highlights how a proactive, coordinated approach can unlock safer, more sustainable and more inclusive transport outcomes.
This interactive panel discussion will be moderated by Rahila David, Executive Director at CCAT.
