CCAT has recently provided a submission to the Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts on their Draft National Road Transport Technology Strategy and Draft National Connected and Automated Vehicle Action Plan 2024-27.
The Strategy and Action Plan encourage a nationally consistent approach from governments to support new road transport technologies. A nationally consistent approach will help governments and industry to make investment decisions and will facilitate the smooth operation of technologies across state and territory borders.
CCAT supports the development of the Strategy and Action Plan, and has made suggestionsto strengthen linkages between the concepts of the Strategy as well as between the Strategy and Action Plan. We have also suggested a number of broader policy issues that we consider the Strategy and Action Plan should incorporate to provide more strategic direction.
