National Transport Leaders Unite to Endorse Bold New Direction for Australia's Transport Future

BRISBANE – Leaders from across diverse industry sectors, representative groups, community, and academia have delivered a bold blueprint to guide Australia's transport system into the future. The consensus was reached at the National Future Transport Summit, a two-day event that marked an unprecedented level of collaboration.

The Summit’s unique format of open debate and robust collaboration, focused on maximising transport outcomes for safety, sustainability, productivity, and accessibility. Key recommendations endorsed by the delegates include:

Brook Hall, Executive Director of the Centre for Connected and Automated Transport (CCAT) stated that the Summit represents a pivotal moment for the country's transport transformation. "For the first time, we have brought together all parts of this broad ecosystem to not just discuss challenges, but to collectively endorse clear, actionable recommendations that can guide Australia forward," Mr. Hall said. "The message is clear: the future of transport must be safe, sustainable, productive, and accessible."

The industry- and community-led recommendations will now be compiled into a National Future Transport Recommendations Report. This report will be delivered to federal, state, and local governments, serving as a clear blueprint for Australia’s transport future.

"These outcomes provide a strong mandate for action," Mr. Hall added. "By aligning stakeholders around a shared vision, Australia can seize the opportunity to lead in future mobility."

The Summit showcased the power of collaboration and highlighted Australia's growing position as a leader in transport innovation.

The National Future Transport Summit brought together key stakeholders to foster collaboration and develop actionable strategies to address the nation's most pressing transport challenges to shape the future of Australia's transport system. The purpose-driven outcomes are a culmination of more than 2-years of preparation and engagement among the Summit's consortium115 members, representing commonwealth, state and local governments, industry bodies, community and advocacy groups, research institutes, nationally significant private enterprises and start-ups.
